Lincoln Training for Novice RAF 8 #1

LRC is currently providing support to an RAF 8 from Cranwell who will compete against a crew from the Dutch Royal Military Academy on 6 to 8 July, in the Netherlands. Most of the crew are beginners so this is quite a challenge for them to get racing in 3 weeks!  Their first training session was Thursday 14 Jun.  Great effort from all – its looking good so far!

Watch their progress here…

Peterborough Spring Regatta

WJ14x Ellie and Elspeth in action

MasD 4+

What a glorious Spring day!  Sunday 3 Jun gave us all a fabulous day’s rowing on the rowing lake at Peterborough Rowing Club with Lincoln Rowing Centre being well represented across the age categories.  Ellie Monaghan and Elspeth Jolly performed really well to win their heat in the W Junior 14s double sculls and come 3rd in the final against strong opposition.  Rowing in the Men’s singles, Joss Cope faired well, winning his heat and achieving 2nd place in the final.  Milan van Heerden was really unlucky to detach his wing rigger in the first few metres of his heat – really good skills for staying dry, Milan!!  Dean Harrison in the single and the Men’s Masters D 4, Jimmy Sockell, Dean Harrison, John Dyer and Garry Speed coxed by Lewis Colbourne, all raced well, giving their all against some stiff opposition.  Also competing for LRC were Bruce Margetts in a Lincoln/Peterborough composite 8+ on Saturday, coming a close second in the final, and repeating the fine performance on Sunday, finishing second in the Mas E/F final, once again in a Peterborough/Lincoln composite.  And Jo Canton who won the W Mas D eight final with a great row in a Peterborough Rowing Club crew.  Well done to Tom Westbrook and Louron Pratt who won the Sunday coxless 4 rowing for Bedford RC.  Congratulations to all Lincoln Rowing Centre members who competed in this superb regatta – keep flying the flag for Lincoln!

Lincoln Head 2018 – Update 18th March

The long-awaited day is finally here and, looking out of the window, I hope you’ll all agree that cancelling the event was the correct thing to do. The event organisers of the Lincoln 10k also cancelled their event so the inclement weather has doubly hit sporting events here.

I am pleased to say that the Lincoln Head Organising Committee have decided to issue full refunds to all competitors and, I’d once again like to thank you all for entering our event.

We will try to re-schedule our 2018 Head soon and would very much like to welcome you all to that one if we can gain the appropriate permissions and backing. And fingers crossed for the weather!

Best Wishes

Lincoln Head – Cancelled

I’m sure that many of you will be unsurprised by the news that, with deep regret, we are forced to cancel the Head due to the severe weather forecast for this weekend for pretty much the whole of the country.

I would like to thank you all for entering and hope to see you soon, by the water somewhere, when the weather improves!

Lincoln Head 2018 – Update 15th March

I’m sure that many of you will have been looking at the weather forecast for Lincoln for Sunday with some trepidation.  Based upon recent Met Office forecasts, we have decided to do an initial GO/NO GO decision tomorrow morning at 10am (16th March).

Whatever the Organising Committee’s decision at that point will be posted here and sent to the email addresses provided on the entries.

If at that point we decide to wait until Saturday Morning 10am before giving the final GO/NO GO then this will also be communicated tomorrow morning with the final Saturday morning decision being communicated as above.

Thank you

Rob Newbutt
