The Aftermath, Boston Rowing Marathon..

The Lincoln Rowing Centre was incredibly proud to host our friends and neighbours at the Boston Rowing Club last weekend for the start of their famous Rowing Marathon.

Boston is one of the clubs who helped us in the early days and it was a pleasure to be able to reciprocate, even if it was just offering toilets and changing rooms to the rowers! Sunday was the first time our new boat house has been used properly, the plumbing held up and everyone who came across the river to have a look around was well impressed.

We would like to say a special congratulations to Lincoln rowers Jim and Ben, the only crew from Lincoln brave enough to take part, for winning the masters E double scull event (MAS.E.2X) setting a new event record of 3 hours 50 minutes and 38 seconds. All those early morning rows to Bardney lock were well worth it!

Our thanks to Boston for making a donation towards the cleaning of the Centre and the copious amounts of toilet roll you all got through!

Results can be found on Boston’s webpage http://www.bostonrowingclub.co.uk/Boston Marathon and all equipment left in the car park has made its way to their boathouse. If you think you left anything please direct queries to Boston through this link.

Nearly Nearly There, Rendering!

One of our members recently uncovered a picture of the first time we laid eyes on what would be our future home, The Pump House.

This morning, whilst enjoying a coffee at JamieB’s, I had a brain wave and decided to recreate the shot for this build update.

You’ll notice that our facilities building on the left is no longer a drab grey brick but a brilliant white hue as the break in the weather has allowed it to be rendered.

** UPDATED ** Boathouse Opening..

Due to an unforeseen British Rowing AGM and Council Meeting the opening of the new boathouse is being delayed until Saturday the 8th of November, the day before the University of Lincoln Beginners Head.

The event is open to all and it would be amazing to see some old faces as well as new.

Boston Rowing Marathon 2014..

Coming up on the 21st of September is the event where it all began for The Lincoln Rowing Centre.

Famous on the rowing calendar for, possibly, being the longest rowing race in the world, The Boston Marathon starts on the Witham just up from our boathouse and sees amateur crews come from all over the world to row the 52Km.

Last year the Centre hosted an American crew from the University Barge Club, how far will they come from this year??
